About Us

HELEN MACDONALD

Helen’s early experience focussed on childcare, in various settings, before becoming a fieldworker, supporting families and individuals affected by epilepsy, in the community. She was employed in this capacity by leading Scottish care providers Epilepsy Scotland and Quarriers. This experience led her to the provision of training for staff across the whole range of educational and care services who inevitably  find epilepsy amongst their pupils, students and service users, but may not always be confident about how to respond.

The  development of Memory Awareness Training and Workshops for people with memory impairment and their carers was a natural development for Helen. Memory problems are a common side-effect of epilepsy, but are also a feature of many other long-term conditions including, of course, dementia and some forms of brain injury. Helen aims to provide those who are experiencing such difficulties, their carers and also staff in care services with practical tools to support the optimal functioning of memory in day-to-day settings.
